Kiroro: price, the bus from Sapporo and pass status

Kiroro suits skiers who want a cheaper ticket than Niseko, and trips based in Sapporo. An adult day is $59 (¥9,200) in the high season, 12 Dec 2026 to 11 Apr 2027, and $37 (¥5,800) on early and spring dates. The Hokkaido Resort Liner from Sapporo takes 90 to 150 minutes with a reservation, and from the airport the route runs through Otaru.
Dollar figures use about ¥155 to US$1 and are rounded; you pay in yen, so check the rate.
Is Kiroro right for you?
Good for
- A lower ticket than Niseko: $59 (¥9,200) against $87 (¥13,500) for a Niseko peak day, about 32% less, both official.
- Cheap shoulder dates: early and spring days are $37 (¥5,800).
- A Sapporo base: the Liner runs from Sapporo in 90 to 150 minutes.
- Deep snow: one database lists a typical peak base of 355 cm, against 229 cm at Furano and 217 cm at Rusutsu. These are database figures, not resort measurements.
Not for
- Ikon or Epic holders: there is no pass day to spend.
- A big network: 9 or 10 lifts, against 32 at Niseko United, on database counts for both.
- Anyone who needs current lift status: the resort’s status panel looks out of date.
- Gate-access backcountry: no rules were found.
The resort’s winter page lists 22 groomed courses and 14 in-bounds off-piste areas. A database gives 23 runs, about 660 m of vertical (520 to 1,180 m) and a steepest pitch of 34.7 degrees. Lift counts differ by source: 9 on the resort panel, 10 in a travel guide and in a lift catalogue (8 chairs, 1 gondola and 1 combination lift, no T-bar or tow). None of these counts is firm.
How do you get from Tokyo to Kiroro?
Fly Haneda or Narita to New Chitose (about 1.5 hours), then choose a route.
- From Sapporo: the Hokkaido Resort Liner takes 90 to 150 minutes and costs $16 (¥2,500). A reservation is required. A travel guide updated in Nov 2025 lists it from mid-December to early April; the 2026-27 schedule is unclear right now. By car it is about 70 minutes.
- From New Chitose: the Rapid to Otaru (74 minutes), then the Otaru to Kiroro bus (75 minutes): about 2 h 29 and $33 (¥5,040), per a database.
No door-to-door total from Tokyo or rail-pass coverage for the Otaru train is sourced. More options are in Ski Hokkaido without a car.
What does a day cost in 2026-27?
Adult prices from the resort’s lift price page. The season is listed as 28 Nov 2026 to 5 May 2027, tentative.

The table’s heading still says 2025-26, but its dates are 2026-27 and a price roundup matches $59 (¥9,200). The resort says prices may change in season. A resort database still lists last season’s high-season price, $57 (¥8,800), which is $3 (¥400) lower. Night ticket hours are not found.
The adult season pass is $465 (¥72,000) early-bird until 13 Dec 2026, then $665 (¥103,000) from 14 Dec, per the resort’s leaflet as summarised in search results; the leaflet itself is unconfirmed. At $59 (¥9,200) a day, that is about 8 high-season days for the early-bird price and 11 for the full price.
Is Kiroro on Ikon or Epic?
Neither pass lists Kiroro. It does not appear on the Ikon destinations page or the Epic partner list, and Mountain Collective lists only Niseko United in Japan. See Ikon and Epic passes in Japan for the resorts that do count.
Riding a board?
No leash or helmet wording was found for Kiroro. A comparison guide lists a full-day beginner lesson at $71 (¥11,000) and a kids’ academy at $77 (¥12,000), with boards from age 7, for 2025-26; 2026-27 rates are unclear right now. More in Snowboarding in Japan.
What do the rules say about leaving the piste?
The resort’s winter page lists 14 in-bounds off-piste areas. Its status panel looks out of date, so ask which are open this winter. No gate or backcountry rules were found, which is not the same as leaving the area being allowed. Ask the resort whether there is any gate and who pays for a rescue, then read Backcountry & safety.
Is the 2026-27 snow looking good?
The 2026-27 outlook leans warm. The Japan Meteorological Agency’s September outlook (unconfirmed figures) gives Hokkaido’s Sea of Japan side a 40% chance of below-normal snowfall, 40% near normal and 20% above. The reports do not say which zone covers Kiroro. A snow-forecast site rates Hokkaido the better of the two main islands, and a snow-report site says it tends to stay reliable into early March. What is there to do on a bad-weather day?
Otaru is the nearest town, and the airport route passes through it. Prices, hours and tattoo rules for its baths, food and sights are not found, so none are listed. The resort has an English site and phone line; the English level of staff on the hill is not stated.
